They don’t understand each other; but in practical life, woman is judged by masculine law, as though she weren’t a woman but a man. A Doll’s House is a three-act play written by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen. It concerns the lives of a group of middle class Norwegians in the 1870s, and deals with themes such as appearances, the power of money, and the place of women in a patriarchal society.

NORA.Oh, well, don’t be alarmed! You couldn’t know that Torvald hadforbidden them. I must tell you that he is afraid they will spoil my teeth. But, bah! —once in a way—That’s so, isn’t it, DoctorRank? [Puts a macaroon into his mouth.] You must have onetoo, Christine. And I shall have one, just a little one—or at most two.[Walking about.] I am tremendously happy.

NORA.When I was at home, of course I loved papa best. But I always thought ittremendous fun if I could steal down into the maids’ room, because theynever moralised at all, and talked to each other about such entertainingthings. So you are going to be dressed up tomorrow Nora. I will tellyou what—I shall come in for a moment and see you in your fine feathers. But I have completely forgotten to thank you for a delightful eveningyesterday. As a matter of fact, it is something you could help mewith.
Let us sit down here on the sofa. Tomorrow evening there is tobe a fancy-dress ball at the Stenborgs’, who live above us; and Torvaldwants me to go as a Neapolitan fisher-girl, and dance the Tarantella that Ilearned at Capri. KROGSTAD.The matter never came into court; but every way seemed to be closed to me afterthat. So I took to the business that you know of. I had to do something; and, honestly, I don’t think I’ve been one of the worst. But now I mustcut myself free from all that.
Review: Jessica Chastain Plots an Escape From ‘A Doll’s House’
He reveals that he is in love with her, and Nora gives up the idea of asking him for help. Dr. Rank leaves and Krogstad returns, asking if Nora had told Torvald her secret and telling her his ambition to eventually run the bank. He leaves a letter explaining the secret debt and forgery in Torvald’s letterbox and exits.

A maid enters, delivering a letter from Krogstad to Nora, which Torvald demands to read himself. Torvald then exults that he is saved, as Krogstad has returned the incriminating bond, which Torvald immediately burns along with Krogstad's letters. He takes back his harsh words to his wife and tells her that he forgives her. Nora realizes that her husband is not the strong and gallant man she thought he was and that he truly loves himself more than he does Nora. After Torvald literally drags Nora home from the party, Rank follows them.
Now he’s been sacked, he is clearly going to go through with his threat and tell his former employer the truth about what Helmer’s wife did. The next day – Christmas Day – Nora is waiting for the letter from Krogstad to arrive, and for her secret to be revealed. Soon after Krogstad’s departure, Nora and Torvald enter, back from the costume ball.
DRAMATIS PERSONAE
His plays were read and performed throughout Europe in numerous translations like almost no dramatist before. A Doll’s House was published in Copenhagen, Denmark, where it premiered. There are two kinds of moral laws, two kinds of conscience, one for men and one, quite different, for women.
A Doll's House Study Guide
She seems to be preparing to ask him to intervene on her behalf in her struggle with Torvald. Suddenly, Dr. Rank reveals to Nora that he is in love with her. In light of this revelation, Nora refuses to ask Dr. Rank for anything. HELMER.You too, of course; we are both saved, both you and I.
Look, here is a new suit for Ivar, and a sword; and a horse and atrumpet for Bob; and a doll and dolly’s bedstead for Emmy,—they arevery plain, but anyway she will soon break them in pieces. And here aredress-lengths and handkerchiefs for the maids; old Anne ought really to havesomething better. But seriously, Nora, you know what I think about that. There can be no freedom or beauty about a home life thatdepends on borrowing and debt. We two have kept bravely on the straight road sofar, and we will go on the same way for the short time longer that there needbe any struggle. When A Doll’s House was first performed in Copenhagen, Denmark in December 1879, its proto-feminist themes caused a sensation, and the play has rarely been out of the spotlight ever since.
Instead of feeling relief, Mrs. Linde says she feels empty because she has no occupation; she hopes that Torvald may be able to help her obtain employment. For years, Nora reveals, she has worked and saved in secret, slowly repaying the debt, and soon it will be fully repaid. NORA.I assure you, Torvald, that is not an easy question to answer.

Firefly Park, Princess Cruises’ kids club for ages 0 to 6 aboard Sun Princess, is the largest in the fleet. Painted in hues of forest green and chocked with games, diversions and crafts, it is located on Deck 6 near guest relations and the ship’s sheltered Cove Balcony staterooms. You could tell Princess was slowly moving into the families-with-kids arena back in 2019, when it refitted the 2004-built Caribbean Princess with a new kids play area and splash park. Sun Princess, however, expands on the line’s offerings with revised spaces and new diversions that are sure to be attractive to families with little ones. Princess Cruises' SPHERE-class ships are two units by the Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, with the first one (Sun Princess) entering service in 2024 and the second one (Star Princess) in 2025.

The Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries are combinable into 14-day B2Bs/back-to-back cruises (Caribbean Adventurer). Alfredo's Pizzeria (Indoor-Outdoor Dining venue) has an open kitchen allowing passengers to watch as the chefs create pizza by hand/serve them straight out of the oven. New to the kitchen is the professional, open-mouth oven reaching 970 F (520 C) degrees.
Its pepped-up Piazza might turn off regulars
Rising three decks, the circular space features stadium-like seating around its second and third levels that gives it the feel of a theater in the round. Among other big changes, the ship's central hub, The Piazza, has been transformed into much more of a showroom (more on that in a moment), and there's yet another major new entertainment space at the top of the ship in The Dome — an unusual glass-covered venue. Princess is promising aerial shows in The Dome, but those, too, aren't quite ready to go (if you've noticed, this a theme with this ship; lots of its most notable new venues aren't ready). On Sun Princess, a trip down the vessel's main entertainment drag on Deck 7 in the evening takes you past one bustling nightspot after another, from an Irish pub with live music to a comedy club that doubles as a karaoke lounge. Until recently, the average age of a Princess cruiser was nearly 60, and its ships catered heavily to older couples and retirees.
Firefly Park is set up for arts and crafts, themed parties and group games aimed at the little ones. Princess has found popularity with travelers from Asia and Japan thanks to its deployment of Diamond Princess in the region, and Asian-American passengers have always been well represented onboard. The Princess demographic of today aboard Sun Princess is a diverse melting pot of races, though passengers still tend to predominantly hail from North America, regardless of ethnicity. Older kids and teens aboard Sun Princess are given their own dedicated clubs and rooms, and kids (and adults) will no doubt love the new Park19 activity zone on Deck 19 aft. Whether your tastes run to more casual, American-style food or authentic flavors from around the world, Sun Princess delivers with cuisine that really raises the bar for the line.
Princess Cruises revolutionizes main dining with 3 unique options
In addition to all the new features, several past Princess favorites have returned aboard Sun Princess. Princess is nearly 20 years behind some of its big-ship competitors in adding suite zones to ships. But the line is finally acknowledging it might have made a mistake in not jumping on the trend. There's also a built-in desk area across from the sofa with a chair and a generous amount of built-in closet storage near the entryway. The closet is deep enough to contain my large-size men's shirts and jackets on hangers without crushing them sideways, something that isn't always the case with built-in closets on newer ships.
While the finishings aren't luxurious, Deluxe Balcony Staterooms (the type of cabin that I was in and the most common cabin category on the ship) have an inviting, modern look with the right amount of furnishings and amenities, all in the right places. Judging from the fact that The Piazza has often been packed with onlookers this week during the many performances taking place in it, it might be that Princess has played this move to more piazza pizzazz just right. The area also has a ropes course with swinging bridges and balance beams and a climbing wall-like experience that will take visitors to a lookout at the very top of the ship, with slides that will take them back down. Princess regulars know what they like, and what they like isn't necessarily giant, activity-packed vessels. But that might not matter if Sun Princess succeeds in drawing in a new wave of Princess fans. Until the debut of Sun Princess in early 2024, Princess could trace its basic design and décor roots to the mid-1990’s, when the first Sun Princess debuted in 1995.
In addition, younger travelers will find major new tween and teen hangout zones (called Neon Grove and The Underground, respectively) within the ship, plus a large playroom for the littlest Princess cruisers called Firefly Park. It's also the first Princess ship with a separate suite complex aimed at the growing number of big-ship-loving vacationers willing to pay big bucks to be extra pampered while at sea. One of the more interesting things Princess has done with Sun Princess is to completely reimagine the dining experience in a subtle but meaningful way.
The views revolve around you.
All cabins, from cozy insides to spacious oceanview and balcony staterooms, and lavish suites, have been completely redesigned from the ground up. They offer improved bathrooms and closet storage spaces, more electrical outlets, an entirely new décor scheme and – most importantly – more living space. Lounge & Bar (deck 7) is a TV studio for the Princess Cruises' shipboard live TV show programming (spots and music performances) filmed each day to be broadcast to the passenger staterooms. The venue is redesigned and expanded (combines the design elements of Princess Live! and Explorer's Lounge), with full bar/beverage service, a stage (with a large LED screen) and is served by the Gelateria (fka Affogato Bar).

Princess developed its Piazza-style atrium concept back in 2006 and debuted it aboard Crown Princess. Flanked by glass elevators and quiet water features and bookended by The International Cafe and the wine-themed Vines, the Piazza has been a sort of oasis of calm on every Princess ship since. For the first time since the 1990s, Princess has entirely re-thought its cabin design and layout. And while cabins on Sun Princess share some structural similarities with Carnival's Excel-class ships (think Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration and Carnival Jubilee), fittings, fixtures and soft furnishings are all different and elevated. The suites themselves, while big in many cases, lack the sort of high-end design that you'll often find in top cruise ship suites.
China possesses about one thousand regional missiles that can be armed with conventional or nuclear warheads. None of these weapons are limited by treaty, and they far exceed US regional nuclear capabilities—a disparity noticed by US allies. On Sunday, North Korea launched two cruise missiles from a submarine in the waters near the country’s eastern port city of Sinpo. The submarine missile launches came right before the United States and South Korea kicked off their planned Freedom Shield (FS) exercises, which will last for 11 days until March 24. Earlier this month, North Korea vehemently criticized ongoing U.S.-Republic of Korea (ROK) joint military drills, which it claims as a rehearsal for invasion.
North Korea fires multiple cruise missiles off east coast
North Korean state media say the country’s leader, Kim Jong Un, oversaw the launch of two submarine-launched cruise missiles (SLCM), the second test of the weapon within days. Conventionally armed BGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missiles are the mainstay of the Navy’s arsenal for attacking land targets. With their long range and high precision, they are useful for taking on highly defended targets, and a salvo of cruise missiles will typically be fired to suppress defenses ahead of a strike by manned aircraft. On occasion, as in the 2018 strikes on Syria, they are used as a low-cost, low-risk alternative to airstrikes.
Guidance and control
Do you store the weapons on the sub all the time, or do you bring them into port and bring them in a crisis? North Korea has an estimated 70 to 90 diesel-powered submarines in one of the world’s largest submarine fleets. But they are mostly aging vessels capable of launching only torpedoes and mines. The US Navy placed a $338m contract with Raytheon in June 2012 for the delivery of 361 Tomahawk Block IV tactical cruise missiles. Another contract worth $254.6m was awarded for Tomahawk Block IV in the same year. The Tactical Tomahawk Weapons Control System (TTWCS) integrated within the ship’s systems computes the path to engage targets.
Block I
As the country announced both tests, state media noted that neither had an effect on "neighboring" countries. Photos published on Monday by state media appeared to show Kim watching the tests from a vantage point above a body of water. In one photo released by KCNA, Kim appeared to be pointing at a missile in mid-flight. South Korea's military said on Monday it believed the submarine "has no military use" and the vessel appeared to be under repair or maintenance. Proven SLBM capability would take North Korea’s arsenal to a new level, allowing deployment far beyond the Korean Peninsula and a second-strike capability in the event of an attack. It shared photos of Kim at an undisclosed location pointing at a missile in the sky and laughing with members of the military.
North Korea fires ‘several’ cruise missiles from west coast
Both created grayish-white clouds as they broke the water surface and soared into the air at an angle of around 45 degrees, which possibly suggests they were fired from torpedo launch tubes. After two years of debate with the Biden administration, it passed, on a bipartisan basis, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024 with instructions to begin the SLCM-N program and achieve operational capability of the SLCM-N by 2034. The SLCM-N was recommended early in 2018, but it took several years for officials to complete the military requirements and conduct an analysis of alternatives.

The Tomahawk was first deployed in combat in the 1991 Gulf War in Operation Desert Storm, with the first salvo launched from the USS Paul F. Foster (DD 964) at Iraqi targets.18 Overall, the mission achieved initial success. Gregory Weaver and Amy Woolf discuss the future of US nuclear posture and arms control, as the United States will soon face two adversaries with peer nuclear arsenals. The two-way satellite communications are used to perform post-launch mission changes throughout the flight.
But it must now pay attention to how the Department of Defense executes its decision in the coming years. US Navy launch platforms were modified to accommodate upgraded Tomahawk missile variants. Four Ohio class nuclear ballistic missile submarines were converted into cruise missile submarines for firing Tomahawk missiles. The Virginia class submarines and the Royal Navy Astute class submarines were also fitted with new vertical launch modules for Tomahawk missile.
Signaling with Submarines
Current versions are typically standoff weapons known as land-attack cruise missiles (LACMs), which are used to attack predetermined land targets with conventional or nuclear payloads. Anti-ship cruise missiles (ASCMs) are also used, and some submarine-launched cruise missiles have variants for both functions. Both surface ships and submarines carry cruise missiles, and previous statements have been carefully ambiguous about which vessels would carry the nuclear version.
France’s 2nd Suffren-class Nuclear Powered Submarine Enters Service
Four U.S. Navy Ohio-class SSBNs were converted in the mid-2000s to be able to salvo launch up to 144 Tomahawk cruise missiles from their modified vertical launch SLBM tubes, as opposed to launching cruise missiles from torpedo tubes as is done from attack submarines. The advantage that the submarines have over guided-missile destroyers and cruisers is the ability to remain undetected and launch while submerged. Tomahawk was deployed on US Navy attack submarines beginning in 1983, originally in LACM and ASCM versions, but the ASCM version was withdrawn in the 1990s. The Soviet Navy converted 13 Whiskey-class submarines (Project 613) for the land-attack cruise missile (LACM) role in the late 1950s (Whiskey Single Cylinder, Whiskey Twin Cylinder, Whiskey Long Bin), armed with the SS-N-3 Shaddock (П-5) missile. Six years after the 2018 Nuclear Posture Review recommended a nuclear armed sea-launched cruise missile (SLCM-N) to counter the growing Russian and Chinese nuclear threat, the program is finally underway, according to recent congressional testimony by administration officials. By authorizing and funding the SLCM-N, Congress took a very important step toward bolstering nuclear deterrence in an increasingly dangerous world.
Seoul and Washington have expanded their joint military exercises this year, citing a growing threat from the North, which launched a record number of missiles last year. North Korea has long characterized the allies’ drills as rehearsals for an invasion. On March 23, a U.S.-manned forward base near Hasaka, Syria, was attacked by an explosive drone launched by Iraqi Shia militias affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Among other casualties, an American contractor was killed in the attack—an outcome that crossed Washington’s red lines and triggered multiple U.S. airstrikes inside Syria.
Robert M. Soofer is a senior fellow in the Forward Defense program of the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, where he leads the Nuclear Strategy Project. He served as deputy assistant secretary of defense for nuclear and missile defense policy from 2017 to 2021. Finally, senior US military leadership must stay focused on this project—and on achieving it in parallel with other projects. Nuclear modernization is a priority for the Department of Defense—there is no doubt about that. But the addition of another nuclear acquisition program will further strain management, funding, and attention. Ensuring no harm is done to schedules for the ongoing nuclear modernization programs must be a priority.
KCNA said Kim was also briefed on efforts to develop a nuclear-propelled submarine and other advanced naval vessels. State media said the missiles were Pulhwasal-3-31, a new type of weapon first tested last week in land-based launches from North Korea’s western coast. In US use, the Popeye designated as the AGM-142 Have Nap is intended primarily to equip the B-52H, allowing it to attack fixed targets of high value at sufficient range to provide protection from defences. The missile represented the first precision guided munition to be carried by the B-52H.
Lee Sung Joon, spokesperson for South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the South Korean and U.S. militaries were analyzing the launches, including the possibility that the North exaggerated the flight times. Since their inception, the missiles have gone through a variety of improvement programs designed to increase reliability and reduce costs. These efforts have included changes in the materials and manufacturing processes of the wings, fins and rocket motor, new components in the inertial guidance unit, an upgraded processor, and an improved imaging infrared seeker. Speaking at the 2020 Surface Navy Association Symposium, Tomahawk program manager John Red said the Navy would retire its Block III Tomahawks and update its Block IV units to the new configuration, which adds modern guidance systems and extends... Tomahawk Block IV missile demonstrated its moving target capability in tests conducted in February 2015. The US Navy awarded a $251m contract to Raytheon for the production and delivery of Tomahawk Block IV missiles for both the US Navy and Royal Navy in September 2014.

For our test trip, World Nomad’s basic plan cost $63, well below average. But the actual trip cost isn’t taken into consideration for trip cancellation and interruption coverage. How to shop cruise travel insurance options
Note that certain high-cost items such as electronics, luxury watches and fine jewelry are not always covered by baggage loss insurance. Consider purchasing additional coverage for such items or — better yet — keep those items with you at all times. No plan will meet the needs of all cruise travelers, so there is little benefit to booking the one insurance option recommended by your cruise line during the booking process other than convenience. While smooth sailing will always be the aim, cruising today is often about expecting the unexpected. You can prepare yourself by taking out an insurance policy that can compensate you when your vacation at sea does not go as planned.
Costs can mount quickly when things go wrong
With early purchase benefits and optional add-on coverages, you can customize the plan and coverages you need for your cruise vacation. Cruisers can expect to pay between 5-10% of their insured trip costs on a comprehensive travel insurance plan. Costs and coverage limits can vary significantly from one policy to the next, so it's best to compare plans before making a purchase decision.
Even a low-cost weekend getaway on a cruise to the Bahamas out of Miami can turn costly if you suffer a serious accident or illness requiring medical treatment or an emergency medical evacuation. You might need to cancel a cruise in advance due to the sudden onset of an illness, such as COVID-19 or the flu. Or, maybe you fall ill during the cruise and need emergency medical attention. Maybe your flight to your ship gets canceled, and you miss the vessel's departure. Or your ship is late arriving in port at the end of a voyage, and you miss your flight home.
As important as knowing how you will be protected, it is also paramount to know what is not included. Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This influences which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. If you were referred by a travel agent, enter the ACCAM number provided by your agent. Coverage options on the plan may vary slightly depending on which U.S. state you claim as your residence.
And while some plans offer post-departure benefits or can be purchased last minute, we advise not to wait to start comparing travel insurance plans. Many travel insurance policies cover cruises, but cruise insurance may be tailored to the risks of cruises, covering transportation, accommodations, and activities. Getting travel insurance for cruises can offer peace of mind if you’re concerned about losing nonrefundable trip payments, travel delays, or covering emergency medical care. WorldTrips’ Atlas Journey Preferred offers solid cruise travel insurance coverage for a low price. With this plan, you’ll get $1 million in emergency evacuation benefits and $100,000 in emergency medical coverage.
Credit Cards
Cruise insurance eliminates or greatly reduces out-of-pocket expenses. Travel insurance compensates passengers when unexpected events force them to cancel or delay cruises. For example, a spouse or parent could die shortly before the departure date. This kind of insurance may also cover luggage theft, sicknesses, injuries and dental emergencies. Many people find cruises fun and exciting, but there are a number of risks to consider.

This means you’ll need to file any medical claims with your health insurance provider first. Travel Insured Worldwide Trip Protector travel insurance offers $1 million in emergency evacuation coverage per person and $150,000 in non-medical evacuation per person. The Atlas Journey Premier policy provides excellent missed connection coverage and medical evacuation benefits. Available upgrades include “cancel for any reason,” “interruption for any reason” and extra coverage for pets traveling with you, adventure sports, destination weddings, hunting and fishing equipment, and more.
You also have the option to purchase cruise trip insurance independently. It’s a good idea to get multiple quotes to compare your costs and coverage and get the best deal on cruise insurance. AXA's Silver Plan comes with coverage for delayed and lost baggage, including $200 per person for covered delays of 24 hours or more and $750 per person ($150 per item) for lost baggage and items. You can also get reimbursed if your trip is canceled or interrupted because of terrorism (foreign only) or financial default of the travel provider (10-day waiting period applies).
Travel Insurance Means Peace of Mind for Cruise Clients - Travel Weekly
Travel Insurance Means Peace of Mind for Cruise Clients.
Cruise insurance may cover missed connections, but it's important to read your policy before you purchase it. Each policy has different limits on how much you'll be reimbursed and what exactly you'll be reimbursed for. Travel insurance typically covers cruises and other types of travel, whereas cruise insurance is designed to specifically protect you while cruising or getting to your cruise. This plan includes $35,000 in rental car damage coverage (where it's valid) due to collision, theft or a natural disaster. When your baggage is delayed for more than 12 hours, you can be reimbursed up to $150 a day ($750 maximum) for any necessary personal items you purchase.
Most cruise insurance includes coverage for missing a departure port, so you should be able to claim for a missed port. Just make sure you check the details of your policy before you file a claim, and before you travel so you know what compensation you're entitled to. The coverage limits on AXA's policies are on the higher end compared to other providers.
The insurer may also offer help if a traveler misses their connection en route to a cruise and misses the cruise itself as a result. Trip insurance policies can cover the cruise and any related flights or hotel stays. Although some of the best travel insurance companies may offer general travel plans that cover cruises, some companies also sell specific policies for these kinds of trips.
You can also get reimbursed if your trip is canceled or interrupted because of terrorism (foreign or domestic) or financial default of the travel provider (14-day waiting period applies). Itinerary changes that cause you to miss a pre-paid excursion are covered by up to $250. Seven Corners' RoundTrip Choice Plan offers primary medical coverage for emergency accident and sickness medical expenses up to $500,000, while many other plans only offer secondary coverage.
One significant benefit that third-party insurance plans offer is possible coverage for financial default. It’s important to note that financial default coverage is generally a time-sensitive benefit, so be sure to look into purchasing your travel insurance soon after you make your initial trip payment. It is important to read the details of the plan as some do restrict coverage for financial default of the travel supplier, tour operator, travel agency, organization or firm that you purchased the trip from.
It also offers a heated marina, indoor and outdoor dining and a 1-to-1 crew-to-passenger ratio. The dry season brings the Humboldt Current from the south to cool the air and water. While the highlands of the larger islands stay green with the atmospheric mist that creeps over the skyline, there’s little precipitation around the sea-level islands. The warm season brings higher temperatures to the islands and the water that surrounds them, while the skyline gets a little cloudier, with rain a daily occurrence. One of the best things about the region is that it’s a great place to visit all year round, with one of the most temperate climates on the planet. If you’re seeking the warmth, temperatures average around 86°F from January to May, but you’ll encounter some humidity and the occasional downpour. The cooler dry season from June to December sees temperatures closer to the 79°F mark, but this is also when sea mammals and birdlife tend to be easiest to spot.

All luggage is thoroughly scanned and sniffed by dogs at the Baltra airport to prevent people from sneaking in contraband — think fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds that aren't native to the Galapagos. However, no one inspected our footwear once we boarded the ship to prevent the transfer of foreign entities between locations where the local ecosystem could be harmed. (We did have to hose off our shoes each time we came back on board.) This surprised me as the practice is common on Arctic and Antarctic expeditions.

The largely undeveloped region is replete with animals you can't see anywhere else; you'll be amazed to learn how the creatures have adapted to survive in the region's inhospitable climate. Everyone is different, that’s why our attention is100% personalized with tailor-made trip. We at Cruise to Galapagos offer an exclusive selection of the best cruises in order to improve our clients expectations. From choosing a ship and itinerary to determining what to put in your suitcase, you have much to consider when planning a Galapagos cruise. When I priced out a few sailings over the next 18 months, I noticed that fares within the next two months are actually higher than those for voyages six months out.

This is the minimum age for most Galapagos cruises, though Disney recommends this itinerary for children eight and older. It’s a small ship expedition itinerary with a hint of Disney magic in a setting fit for a fairy tale. Adventures by Disney's Galapagos itineraries span nine days and visit about 15 sites. Trips to the Galapagos Islands are logistically complicated, making cruises an especially good way to experience the area. Travelers to the Galapagos Islands must first fly to Quito or Guayaquil, Ecuador, for a night before flying to the Galapagos to board their ships.
Like the Letty, Ecoventura's Origin sails two routes around the archipelago, each lasting eight days and providing plenty of chances to get up close to nature. An expedition leader along with onboard naturalists will guide you through your trip. The ship is equipped with kayaks for guest use, and a glass-bottom boat provides views for those who aren't into snorkeling.
All cabins on the ship — including the 430-square-foot master suite — have balconies and are done up in welcoming, contemporary decor. The ship's design is outdoor-focused, with alfresco dining and a bar near the Jacuzzi. Pampering ensues — even for young guests who are on board select family departures during which added activities include a cultural exchange with local students. Check out the rare Galapagos publications in the library when you're not in the outdoor Jacuzzi, on the kayaks or on paddleboards. The crew of 13 includes a French-trained chef, a concierge and two naturalists. See the world from a new perspective with a veteran expedition team by your side and leading the way.
In January to June the water tends to be between 20C–26C (70F–80F), while in July to December temperatures are closer to 18C–23C (65F–75F). The islands are 973 kilometres (605 miles) off the Ecuadorian coast, and are considered a remote location from the mainland. The 96-passenger National Geographic Endeavour II has Wi-Fi, a doctor, SUP gear, a clear-bottom zodiac, a free digital photo kiosk with iMacs, and a spa. Like the Islander II, food brought from the mainland is carefully prepared and packaged to prevent the introduction of invasive species to the Galápagos Islands.
Galápagos cruise prices will vary depending on the class of vessel, the length of itinerary and the capacity of the ship. Because there are lots of variables and a large amount of choice, we recommend talking to one of our friendly Galápagos experts. Our website is updated once per day with the latest Galápagos cruise prices and availability, but popular boats and dates can fill very quickly, so be sure to call us to ensure you can secure your perfect cruise.

Your vessel might have an open-bridge policy, though; check it out to see if you can catch a peek inside. There is also likely to be a water sports platform and equipment storage area with outdoor showers or hoses for rinsing off shoes and feet when you return from landings ashore. Although you can borrow a pair for a bit, you'll want your own to take in all the scenery. We had one pair for the three of us, and I wished we had two more, so we never had to share or miss out on far-away wildlife sighting.
Go on a vacation of a lifetime to this untouched paradise just south of the Equator in 2023. Known for its favorable snorkeling opportunities, Punta Espinoza on Fernandina Island offers plentiful chances to get up close and personal with underwater life. Onshore, you can spot sea lions, marine iguanas and beautifully colored Sally Lightfoot crabs.
Every member of our team—from our naturalists and photographers to our expedition leaders—is committed to ensuring you have an unforgettable experience. Understandably, the Galapagos is a bucket-list destination, which means most people don't travel there to sit around on the ship while the region's phenomenal scenery passes them by. With that in mind, many ships based in the area feature bare-bones amenities. The vessels do not boast onboard spas, passenger cabins do not include TVs, and no onboard activities are scheduled during the day. We make sure that all Galapatours cruises, whatever their length, will give you a fantastic experience of the Galápagos Islands, their unique wildlife and incredible habitats.
